A HUSBAND-and-wife team who fell in love with the Isle of Wight, have a mission to revitalise and take forward an already popular Island pub onto a higher level — starting with a summer party.
Victoria Murphy has been appointed as the new general manager of The Folly Inn pub in Whippingham, near East Cowes.
Her husband, Lee, is her assistant manager.
Victoria, who started her hospitality career in Malta, brings bags of experience to the industry, having successfully managed numerous UK-based pubs.
Victoria and Lee decided to settle on the Isle of Wight to take on the popular waterside venue, nestled on the picturesque banks of the River Medina.
For the couple, it was a no brainer, having "fallen in love with the Island’s charm, history, and culture".
Transforming The Folly Inn — part of the Greene King pub portfolio — into a hub for the local community to enjoy, is one of their great aims.
The pub, in Folly Lane, will be hosting its first major community event of the season — The Folly Inn Summer Party — which will be held on Thursday (May 2).
"We aim to bring the community together for a night of fun, to celebrate the start of the summer months and all things Isle of Wight," Victoria said.
The event will be packed with live music, an outdoor cinema, traditional wooden garden games, a magical photo mirror and refreshments.
Alongside a taster of the pub’s menu, complimentary popcorn, ice cream and champagne will be provided, alongside a range of light bites.
Victoria added: “Our team at The Folly Inn has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get ready to start the summer with a bang, with a special celebration held exclusively for Isle of Wight residents.
“I am determined to create a welcoming environment for everyone — and what better way to do that than to celebrate the Island we all love!
“We can’t wait to welcome customers. It’s going to be a night to remember. We’re very excited.”
