A FLOOD warning issued for the Isle of Wight’s Eastern Yar has been downgraded to a flood alert this morning.
According to the Environment Agency (EA), water levels throughout the Eastern Yar valley continue to fall, albeit quite slowly.
In the past 24 hours, only small amounts of rain have fallen and the levels at Alverstone have now peaked.
At Langbridge and Alverstone, the EA is not expecting any further impacts, and the river should return to normal within the next 24 hours.
At Sandown, levels remain high, but are very slowly falling.
Flooding on Golf Links Road and Morton Common, Sandown, is likely to continue over the next 24 hours, and ditches around Fort Holiday Park will struggle to drain while river levels are high.

Today (Monday) and tomorrow are expected to be dry, but from Wednesday onwards, more unsettled weather is expected, bringing further rainfall.
“This additional rainfall will maintain the responsive nature of the Eastern Yar catchment,” said a spokesperson for the EA.
“We will continue to monitor the forecast and will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages.
“Avoid walking or driving through flood water.”
