FIREFIGHTERS and police were called to a fire at a derelict hotel on the Isle of Wight.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received reports of smoke seen from the derelict Ocean Hotel in Sandown, at 6.01pm this evening (Friday).
Appliances from Shanklin, Ryde and Ventnor were sent to Sandown High Street, to extinguish a fire in the basement of the dilapidated building.
The small fire was 3m x 3m in size. The cause of it is not known at this stage.
There were no injuries.
The historic Ocean Hotel was ravaged by fire almost exactly three years ago, which left large sections of it gutted, and it has been a target for vandals.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and stood down the operation at 6.29pm.
