AN ISLE of Wight man caught with cocaine concealed inside cigarette packets has been sentenced.
Harry Turnbull, of Pyle Street, Newport, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Friday, April 26.
The 32-year-old admitted possession of cocaine, in Newport, on November 29 of last year.
Prosecutor, Lauren Stone, said Turnbull was caught after being arrested on suspicion of a motoring offence.
She said he was stopped at around 11.25am, and during a search of his van, a number of items were found in a brown leather bag.
Ms Stone said two cigarette packets and a foil wrap were discovered, all three contained a quantity of cocaine.
The court heard Turnball had 26 previous convictions for 57 offences – his last drug conviction in December of last year.
Michael McGoldrick, defending, said the cocaine was for social use early, Turnbull was no longer using, and he pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Turnbull was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £48 surcharge.
