Firms in the Isle of Wight construction industry joined forces to overhaul Sight for Wight's problematic car park.
Troubled by potholes, flooding, and uneven terrain, the independent charity, catering to visually impaired Islanders out of their Newport HQ, requested assistance.
Corporate aid from B&Q, voluntary efforts from Reynolds and Read, and Wight Building Materials, has resulted in a renovated car park, boasting easy access to the front door.
“We are absolutely thrilled – this is going to make such a difference to us all,” said Lisa Hollyhead, Sight for Wight chief executive.
“We urgently needed help so I contacted B&Q who gave us a grant but it required further support from Wight Building Materials and Reynolds & Read to complete the job. They have all been absolutely brilliant – the car park and new access is just brilliant and I can’t thank them enough.”
Steve Burton, general manager of Wight Building Materials, said: “We were just delighted to be part of a team effort and provide some locally-sourced gravel to help out a local charity that does so much great work in the Island community.”
