Emergency teams rushed to a popular Isle of Wight pub this morning (Tuesday, April 23) following reports of a fire.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) were alerted at 9am to reports of a blaze at the Chequers Inn in Rookley.
Firefighters from Newport, Ryde, Shanklin and Ventnor were all sent to the scene on Niton Road.
A fire service spokesperson said the fire was out on arrival, with crews using ventilation to clear the smoke.
HIWFRS conducted a fire safety visit before leaving the pub at 9.30am.
