Two bus passengers have been injured following a crash in the centre of an Isle of Wight town this morning (Monday, April 22).

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at 10.48am this morning to reports of a collision in Ryde.

The collision happened on George Street, at the crossroads connecting Melville Street and Cross Street in the centre of the town.

The incident involved a route eight Southern Vectis bus and a Fiat 500.

A police spokesperson told the County Press that two bus passengers have suffered minor injuries.

Simon Moye, Southern Vectis operations manager. said: “There was some damage to the bus and two of our passengers suffered minor injuries. We wish them a speedy recovery.

“At present, the full circumstances behind the incident are unclear and we are carrying out an investigation.

"The vehicles have now been cleared and services have returned to normal.”
