A Sandown man, arrested at an Isle of Wight ferry terminal, was found to be nearly ten times over the specified drug limit.
At the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on April 16, Andrew Oxley, of Wilkes Road, Sandown, pleaded guilty to drug driving.
On October 13, 2023, the 54-year-old was stopped by police at Wightlink's Fishbourne car ferry terminal, court heard.
A roadside drugs test was carried out and Oxley tested positive for cannabis and cocaine, Munayah Hassan, prosecuting, said.
He was taken to Newport Police Station and although his cocaine and cannabis tests were under the specified limit, blood tests showed Oxley had 480ug of Benzoylecgonine in his blood, court heard. The legal limit is 50.
Defending, Oscar Vincent, said Oxley was not pulled over due to the manner of his driving, but for an 'unrelated matter'.
Mr Vincent said Oxley has a degenerative spinal disorder and to manage the pain takes strong pain killers, and these may have impacted his levels.
Mr Vincent told the court Oxley, who has one previous conviction, was fully co-operative with police and went quietly to the station.
Magistrates disqualified Oxley from driving for 14 months and ordered him to pay fines and costs, totalling £253.
