A major clean-up is underway this morning (Tuesday, April 9) following significant business flooding on an Isle of Wight high street overnight.

Every single shop on Cowes High Street has been affected in some way, with flood water reaching the back of some stores.
It follows overnight flooding, caused by what the Environment Agency predicts are some of the highest tides the Island has seen.

Some people are talking about water coming through the brickwork into their businesses, reaching as high as 3ft, the County Press understands.
Business owners and staff are on the street with brooms and taking out buckets of water from inside.
Gas and electric teams are on site, as repairs get underway following a power cut on the High Street.

Some shops are still open, but the vast majority have piles of debris outside as the clean-up continues.
The worst affected area is between Hurst and Sainsbury's, but there is evidence of flooding all the way to the end of Cowes High Street.
