A new era has begun at a popular Isle of Wight seafront restaurant, as the former managers of a nearby pub take the helm.
Husband and wife Reece and Lizzee Annis have left their roles at The Caulkheads, Sandown, for a 'new adventure' at The Ocean Deck.
The couple say it was a tough decision to say farewell to the place they first met 18 years ago, but they are 'excited' for the challenge.
Reece worked as a chef at the pub and went on to become the manager.
In 2020, he was joined by Lizzee, 36, and the pair worked side by side there up until their new venture.
Their stint at the pub was successful and saw them receive the Red Funnel bronze award for the best pub in 2023.
At The Ocean Deck, they succeed Alan and Hayley Staley, who left at the end of October, 2023, after 10 years.
After seeing the restaurant go on the market, Lizzee said they were encouraged to "go for it", but initially decided not to — until they had a change of heart.
Although sad to be leaving the pub, which holds 'many happy memories', the pair previously told the County Press: "Everything happens for a reason and we’re so excited to be on this journey and hope that we make it a success!"
The Ocean Deck reopened for the first time under Reece and Lizzee's stewardship at 9am today (Thursday).
Posting on Facebook, they said: "Myself and Reece wish all of our team the best of luck moving forward, into creating the deck a whole new vibe back in Sandown."
The restaurant offers seafood in its specials, but also has a main menu, starters menu and children's menu.
