BAD news for commuters after Red Funnel cancelled two key cross-Solent car ferries timetabled for this afternoon (Thursday).
The 5pm Red Falcon sailing from Southampton and the return 6.30pm service from East Cowes have been cancelled due to "an extension of essential maintenance" on the vessel, the ferry company has said.

This is added to other Red Funnel car ferry sailings being cancelled on the route — the 2pm from Southampton and the 3.30pm from East Cowes — for the same reason.

The cancellations come as the Isle of Wight is set to welcome tourists for the Easter bank holiday weekend, starting tomorrow, Good Friday.
Red Funnel has apologised for any inconvenience caused to customers.
