Isle of Wight charity WightAID gifts £10k to local projects

Leading the recipients, the Arukah Project CIC secured over £7,000 towards its stress-to-stress support programme for 28 Island residents experiencing trauma, anxiety, and stress, primarily within marginalised communities.

The Isle of Wight Venue Campaign distributed 50,000 postcards globally, from Niton to Kazakhstan, through Operation Geranium.

Creative Beats CIC was unable to attend the presentation as they were at a Samba workshop. They received funding for larger drums for their Parkinson’s drumming sessions.

Yetta Elkins from Creative Beats said: “We are so grateful to have received funding from WightAID to buy extra equipment to support our Drumming and Movement sessions. Wight Aid’s generosity has meant that we can deliver sessions to more people in our Island community, improving their health whilst having fun. Thank you WightAID!”

Grants were also provided to Sandown and Lake Youth FC for new goalposts, Sandown District Historical Association for digitisation, and Sandown Aviation Men’s Shed for their upcoming Shed Fest.

Lastly, the Wight Horse CIC (Island Riding Centre) received funds for an Inky Dinky Saddle for disabled children.
