A pillar has been destroyed after a car crashed into it on the Isle of Wight earlier today (Monday, March 25).

The collision happened on Dudley Road in Ventnor, at its junction with private road Alexandra Gardens, outside Eastcliff Car Park.

The pillar, which is a feature of the Victorian terrace, has been completely destroyed.

A nearby resident said the pillar was fine when they walked past it at around 11.45pm yesterday.
