AN ISLE of Wight location features in the top ten most unforgettable natural landmarks in the UK, according to Explore Worldwide.
The results of a study carried out by the adventure tour operator shows the Island’s Alum Bay to be among the most popular natural wonders.
The Needles ranked sixth overall, coming in ahead of Cheddar Gorge, Claigon Coral Beach, Arthur’s Seat and Derwentwater.
To find the world’s most unforgettable natural landmarks, Explore Worldwide created a list comprising more than 150 natural landmarks from around the world; those that were commonly described as unforgettable, scenic, or a “must see”.

For each landmark, they calculated the percentage of its reviews on popular travel review websites which included the terms ‘unforgettable’ and ‘memorable’.
The landmarks with the highest percentage of reviews mentioning those terms were then ranked as the world’s most unforgettable natural landmarks.
Scotland dominated the UK's top ten, with five entries.
Fifth place went to The Fairy Pools, in Scotland, and England’s Seven Sisters ranked fourth.
Scotland’s Loch Ness took third place, while Northern Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway claimed second, and Scotland’s The Old Man of Storr topped the chart.
