An Isle of Wight man's attempts to burgle a property were foiled after he was caught on camera by the homeowner, while they were on the mainland.
Joe Male, of Sandown Road, Lake, admitted attempted burglary with intent to steal and possession of a class B drug, namely ketamine, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday, February 18.
The court heard how, on February 20, 2023 Male, and another man, tried to break-in to a property in Sandown.
Tim Devlin, prosecuting, said cameras alerted the householder, who was visiting the mainland at the time, to someone on their property.
They called their friends who went to see and then rang the police, Mr Devlin said.
One of the men, Male, ran away and was later arrested.
A rucksack with equipment including various screwdrivers and a torch was found, court heard.
Judge Daniel Sawyer adjourned the case until April 30, for a pre-sentence report.
Male was granted unconditional bail.
