An amazing £7,500 was raised for the Isle of Wight students of St Catherine’s school, through a gala dinner and grand auction which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the charity, on Saturday, March 9.
The event was held at Lakeside Spa and Hotel in Wootton, sponsored by Wightfibre.
It started with entry music by Greg Barnes, followed by an introductory talk by principal Sarah Thompson, who gave an insight into students' speech, language and communication skills.
Barry Reed delivered a talk on the history of St Catherine’s.
After a 3-course meal, the grand auction included a varied selection of lots.
There was a ‘money can’t buy’ racing car experience, hosted by former ROFCO racing car world endurance champion, Stuart Hall - the chance to see his own private collection.
Finally, to finish the evening off, DJ Dan James played an eclectic mix of music for guests to enjoy.
St Catherine’s school’s fundraising assistant Tanya Smith said: “We are so pleased by the amount we raised on the night, for the students.
“The support for this event was overwhelming.
"Thanks for the donations and also to our sponsors and guests, without who this event would not have been possible."
