A suspected teenage drug driver has been arrested after eight people were injured — two seriously — in a head-on crash in Havenstreet on the Isle of Wight last night (Wednesday).
The crash involved a white Vauxhall Corsa and a white Skoda Rapid.
A man in his 70s, a passenger in the Skoda, suffered what police are calling potentially life-threatening injuries and is in hospital.
Another passenger in the same vehicle, a woman in her 60s from Ryde, also suffered serious injuries.

Six others suffered minor injuries.
Police were called at 8.30pm to a collision at the junction of Firestone Copse Road and Main Road in Havenstreet.
The driver of the Corsa, a 17-year-old man from Newport, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and for causing serious injury by careless driving.
He has been bailed until March 14.
