The County Press is showcasing yet more winners from this year’s Isle of Wight Music, Dance and Drama Festival (IWMDDF).

In its 94th year, IWMDDF provides an opportunity for public performance in a supportive environment with constructive feedback designed to encourage young people and adults to improve and achieve their potential.

It was smiles all around at the speech and drama section of IWMDDF for 11-year-old twins Angelina and Angelou Ortega from Newport.
Angelina gained second place in the verse speaking class with her performance of Traffic Light by Leslie Norris, while Angelou took silver in her verse speaking class with a performance of No Fishing by Mhari O’Neill.
Angelou then achieved an outstanding 90 marks to take first place in the 10-11 years prose speaking.
The twins, who attend drama classes at the Ella Sheppard School of Performing Arts in Ryde, said they were ‘thrilled’ and ‘delighted’ with their results.

Fusion Arts Academy student Jazzmin Salter, from Ryde, has received scores in the high 80s in nine 11-13 years classes at this year’s festival.
Jazzmin secured first place in the Disney piano solo and duet set song classes, both with 89 marks.
She also claimed second place in both folk accompanied and unaccompanied classes, with 87 and 86 marks, and in rap solo, scoring another 86.
Securing 88 marks and third place finishes, Jazzmin earned further success in the show song solo and musical theatre solo classes and also secured fourth place in pop/rock solo, with 87 marks, and TV/film solo, scoring 86.
Jazzmin is said to have ‘enjoyed every moment’ of the vocal classes and is excited for the dance classes to begin this weekend.
A student of singing teacher Tressa Lambert, Alfie Luke, is celebrating success in IWMDDF’s vocal category.
Alfie won his jazz class and secured second place in his Disney piano accompaniment and rap classes.
He also secured top spot alongside Tom Thorne in the pop duet and musical theatre duet with Ava Cowen – scoring an incredible 94 marks, with a performance of All I Ask of You from Phantom of The Opera.
Alfie also took bronze in the song from shows and Disney backing track classes.
Lottie Paine, who is taught by Tressa Lambert and Polly MacGregor, earned 12 top-three finishes in the vocal category at this year’s competition.
A student at Platform One, Joel Morris Dance Academy, Curtain Call and Guildford School of Acting, Lottie secured four wins, six silvers and two third-place finishes.
Lottie now has 21 entries to perform in the dance festival for Joel Morris Dance Academy!
Gatten and Lake Primary School student Dominic Dalton achieved a mark of 86 for his 11 years and under solo acting class.
A student of Jeni Law, Dominic went on to achieve second place in verse speaking and first place in the prose speaking class.
Izzy Bindley, also taught by Jeni, was excited to win the Becky Weeks Cup for her performance in the 12-13 years solo mime class.
Adjudicator Mary-Ann Tear commended Izzy for her ‘effective use of space and excellent physicality’.
She awarded Izzy 88 marks for the comic mime titled Looking after the Neighbour’s Dog.
