A serial Isle of Wight offender will be sentenced next month after he admitted stealing almost £500 worth of clothes from Sports Direct and TK Maxx.
Daniel Kilshaw, of Ventnor High Street, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, March 13).
The 43-year-old admitted to two counts of theft, both committed at clothes shops on South Street in Newport earlier this month.
On March 7, Kilshaw stole £339 worth of clothes from Sports Direct and yesterday (March 12), he stole a further £127.99 worth of clothes from TK Maxx.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: “Police teams are supporting businesses and retailers and targeting offenders as a priority on the Island.
“Repeat shoplifting, in particular, can create an environment of fear for many retail workers. As a result, they may feel unsafe in their own workplace.
“In addition, store owners losing products to thieves means that they not only lose the profit margin but the entire value of the product. This, in turn, can impact prices for consumers.”
Kilshaw was handed conditional bail and will appear before magistrates for sentencing on April 12.
