A MAN was taken into custody after an alleged assault at an Isle of Wight school site.
An incident broke out at St Francis Primary Academy on Newport Road, Ventnor, this morning.
A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.08am to a public order incident at St Francis.
"A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of common assault against a woman, using threatening or abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and resisting arrest.
"He remains in custody at this time."
Police stressed that no children were harmed during the incident.

The school's executive principal, Alex Augustus, said: "There was an incident at the nursery site which required police intervention.
"As a precautionary measure, the school implemented its lockdown procedures and initiated a partial lockdown.
"All children remained safe and calm throughout the duration of the incident. The school effectively managed the situation until it was resolved."
