DAISH’S Holidays has no plans to sell its ‘flagship’ Isle of Wight hotel.
The statement comes after the business put three of its other hotels on the market, which Islanders have long enjoyed coach trips to.
Property agents Savills has been instructed by Daish’s Group to sell three hotels from its portfolio - Barrowfield Hotel, Newquay, County Hotel, Kendal, and Daish’s Blackpool.
The family-owned and operated coach holiday group Daish’s Holidays – which runs a single hotel on the Isle of Wight in Daish’s Hotel, Shanklin – says the three sites are on the market to ensure the long-term sustainability and future growth of the business.
Paul Harper, commercial director at Daish’s Holidays, said: “There are no plans for the Daish’s Hotel in Shanklin to be sold.
“Daish’s Hotel was the first hotel for the group, purchased in 1979, and we are looking forward to continuing to provide great value, traditional holiday experiences for many decades to come from our flagship Isle of Wight hotel.
“The Barrowfield Hotel in Newquay, The County Hotel in Kendall, and the Daish’s Blackpool Hotel are currently on the market.
“This is a planned and strategic move, which is part of a wider plan to ensure the long-term sustainability and future growth of our business.
“We are continually looking out for other suitable hotel acquisition opportunities in locations that we know our guests will enjoy and will complement the Daish’s family.”
Daish's Hotel – one of the “crown jewels” in Daish’s Holidays’ vast hospitality chain – is situated on Shanklin High Street.
The original building dates back to the 18th Century, when it was originally used as a coaching inn, and even hosted Queen Victoria for a stay in room 31.
The original building had been extended by 1907 to resemble the hotel as it stands today.
Daish’s Hotel has won numerous TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards over the years – nine in a row – for consistently delivering positive experiences to travellers.
The historic building now has 72 bedrooms, along with a bar and entertainment venue, and boasts large gardens and a sun terrace.
