Cliff falls have seen tonnes of land come crashing down onto a popular Isle of Wight beach.

Islander Pete Gray was out walking on Saturday, March 2 when he noticed the landslips.

They have occurred at Brambles Chine, Colwell Bay.

He said debris from a number of landslides can be seen on the beach, near to the Brambles Chine steps.

The steps themselves are also 'getting worse', Pete said.

They were closed last year, just seven months after reopening.

At the time the Isle of Wight Council said the cliff was washed out and had eroded.

It was envisaged repairs would be made in the spring.

The cliff falls at Brambles are the latest in a series of landslips on the Island in recent months.

In January, the County Press reported a large fall further along the beach, near Fort Albert.

Meanwhile, from today, the revetment between Sandown and Shanklin is being closed while cliff fall debris is cleared from the walkway.

Cracks have also started to appear in a coastal footpath at Fort Victoria Country Park, due to a landslip.

Around the corner in Totland, a large landslide closed the promenade, north of Totland Pier.

And in Bonchurch, drivers are still unable to access a main road between Shanklin and Ventnor following a major landslide in December.
