A VAN driver was arrested and charged on suspicion of drink driving following reports a Transit van collided with a parked Mercedes car and a bollard in an Isle of Wight town.
Police were called to an incident on Market Hill, Cowes, on the evening of Thursday last week (February 29), in which a white van, believed to have been a Ford Transit, was in collision with a metal bollard and a silver grey Mercedes, which caused damage.
On the Isle of Wight Community Information Facebook page, an appeal for witnesses to come forward or provide CCTV footage, was made following the incident in Market Hill, at around 10.15pm that night.
Photos posted on the Facebook page show the damage caused to the Mercedes and a van's wheel arch left at the scene.
Van driver, Andrew Shrimpton, of Fareham, Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, at 10.40pm that evening and was later charged.
The 24-year-old was given police bail to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Friday, March 15.
