ISLE of Wight police have reassured us that they take residential burglaries “extremely seriously”, following the jailing of Kai Little.

The 26-year-old was confronted by an Isle of Wight woman, after she found him "rummaging" through her library for money in the middle of the night.

At a hearing on February 23, the court was told a woman heard noises in the library of her home in Cowes, at 1am on September 15, 2023.

Police staff investigator, Charlotte Allan, said: “This was a brazen incident which saw Little break into two homes – one of which was occupied - and continue to cycle around the local area in the hours after the event.

“Burglary is an invasive crime that leaves people feeling extremely vulnerable in their own home – a space where they should feel safe and secure.

“We take residential burglaries extremely seriously.

“Police teams work hard to identify hotspot locations and patterns of offending to target habitual offenders and bring them to justice.

“On this occasion, officers were swift in identifying Little based on the description provided to police before stopping, searching and bringing him into custody.

“I hope the efforts of police and the fact that Little is now in prison can provide some reassurance to the community in Cowes.”
