A Ryde man has been sentenced after stealing almost £150 worth of alcohol in a burglary at Ryde Superbowl.
Dominic Crumby, of Daniel Street, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Friday, February 23.
Lauren Stone, prosecuting, said the 25-year-old was seen on CCTV with two others on the external staircase at Ryde Pavilion at 4pm on July 24, 2023.
Ms Stone told the court another person used a metal bar to break a window to gain entry to an outbuilding, and Crumby leaned in and took alcohol before walking away.
The court heard that Crumby stole £146.44 worth of alcohol.
Barry Arnett, defending, described his client as ‘easily led’ and said he did not want anything to do with the incident.
Mr Arnett told the court Crumby, who has complex mental health issues, had originally left the scene but later came back and accepted he should have walked away and not returned.
Crumby was handed a 12-month community order to include 30 rehabilitation days and must pay a £85 surcharge and £48 compensation to property owners, Ryde Superbowl.
