Students interested in a career in history attended a drop-in session held by an Isle of Wight history group, to learn about potential career pathways.
Organised by the Isle of Wight Historical Association, eager A-Level students enjoyed a tea-fuelled chat with working professionals from heritage-related jobs.
This event at the Newport Minster Parish Centre also highlighted a local bursary for Island students wishing to study History, Archaeology, or Classics at university.
They explained how the money could be used for study-related costs such as books, computer equipment, and even travel.
Current Oxford student and bursary recipient, Isaac Lethbridge, offered insight into applying to study history and possible career avenues.
The Historical Association says it is planning to make this an annual event targeted at students aged 16 and above.
One student said: "I realised that there are opportunities to volunteer here on the Isle of Wight, which will benefit my CV and personal statements and may even assist in the application to university.”
Another added: "It was useful to meet a range of people/experts and good to have them available to talk to both on the day and in the future."
