Newport's Medina Way dual carriageway will be closed overnight this week, to allow for work on the key Isle of Wight road.

Contractor, Island Roads, will be making safety improvements, between 7.30pm and 6am, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, February 26 to 29.

Sections of the safety barrier, damaged in crashes, will be replaced on both the southbound and northbound lanes.

Diversions will be in place, including southbound via the industrial estates and northbound diversion via the Lidl Roundabout and Hunnyhill.

Dave Wallis, Island Roads' operations and maintenance manager, said: “Working at night will reduce the impact of this work on road users.

"I am sure people will understand how important it is to ensure the restraining barriers on the dual carriageway are returned to their proper condition.

"We’d like to thank road users in advance, for their understanding and co-operation."
