112 postcodes and around 1,160 customers are affected by an Isle of Wight power cut, in Winford, Godshill and surrounding areas.
Postcodes PO30 and PO36 are affected.
SSE has apologised for the outage, which happened at around 6.30pm.
The utility provider says it hopes to restore supplies by about 10pm.
Engineers are due to arrive on the scene at around 7.30pm, it said, and revealed a fault on the overhead network has caused the problem.
Update at 11pm:
A further 400 customers were affected this evening, after initial reports - around 1,500 homes and businesses.
If you are still affected, the current estimated time of power being restored is 2am.
