Two people were rescued by emergency crews following a cliff fall at a popular Isle of Wight beach yesterday afternoon (Thursday, February 22).
HM Coastguard received a call at around 3.30pm yesterday after two people needed assistance following a cliff fall in Totland Bay.
Rescue teams from Needles and Ventnor were sent to the scene, alongside the Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat and coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent.
The casualties were found by coastguard crews and checked over by the ambulance service.
A coastguard spokesperson said they were able able to make their own way home.
The Isle of Wight Council has since issued a warning to stay clear of the area.
The pathway has been closed and the Isle of Wight Council is advising people to observe the barriers and signage and to stay away from the debris, which is not safe.
A further section of the promenade, between the Waterfront pub and Widdick Chine, has also been closed off following the discovery of voids beneath the path.
