Isle of Wight firefighters are at the scene of a crash on Forest Road, Newport this evening (Thursday), at its junction with Gunville Road.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newport and Ryde were called to the two-vehicle crash at around 6.30pm.

Police and paramedic teams were also sent to the scene.

Firefighters have been providing initial treatment to two casualties, whilst working to make the vehicles safe, the fire service told the Isle of Wight County Press.

The road is closed and diversions are in place.

Gunville Road is closed on its approach to Forest Road, with traffic is cutting through the estate via Taylor Road.

Buses on route seven are among the vehicles that are diverting.
