An award-winning Isle of Wight NHS dental practice has announced that it has been sold to an Island buyer with extensive experience in the dental field.
Denbigh House NHS Dental Practice in Ryde, which cares for 12.8 per cent of Islanders, went up for sale two years ago.
Today (Wednesday, February 21), it has been announced that Edward Day, who already owns a successful private dental practice in the heart of Newport, has taken over the Ryde practice.
Edward, who has been a dental technician since 2002, purchased St James Clinic in 2015, and under his watch, it has become one of the most recommended dental practices on the Island, providing cosmetics, implants and general dentistry.
Having opened in 1877, Denbigh House is one of the oldest practices in the UK and boasts an award-winning team that treats NHS patients.
The practice is also the only Island practice that trains dental professionals, dentists, nurses, technicians and therapists.
The team at Denbigh won ‘Best Team in the UK’ at the National Dentistry Awards, held in Leicester in December 2023.

A spokesperson said Edward is ‘proud to have purchased’ the George Street-based practice.
Denbigh House is currently at its maximum capacity, but patients would have likely already noticed renovations in full swing amid plans to update and modernise, as well as expand in practice.
With NHS dentistry on the Island at an all-time low, after five NHS practices closed or moved to private in the last year, Edward says he is 'dedicated to offering NHS treatment' to all of Denbigh House’s registered patients.
Denbigh House will also remain a training centre for newly qualified dentists.
