A former kite-surfing champion, an Isle of Wight cafe owner and volunteers at a bus museum are among those who feature in the final episode of the latest series of Channel 5's Jewel of the South tomorrow (Thursday).

Summer is drawing to a close on the Island but there’s still plenty to look forward to in Sandown, as the town gears up for the carnival.

Cafe owner Vivette Fryer is planning a barbecue to give revellers a taste of her authentic Caribbean cooking and is hoping the weather doesn't scupper her plans.

At the Isle of Wight Bus and Coach Museum in Ryde, it’s an exciting day for the volunteers who have spent years meticulously restoring an old bus that served on the Island almost one hundred years ago.

Isle of Wight: Jewel of the South airs tomorrow at 8pm on Channel 5.

Today, it’s the moment of truth as they crank up its vintage engine for the very first time. 

In Colwell Bay, cameras follow former kite surfing champion Tom Court who is making the most of the windy weather to brush up on his skills and practice a few of his epic moves, ready for his next big competition.

Meanwhile, Isle of Wight Distillery's Xavier Baker, who recently rowed the Atlantic for charity, is offering a a new, sumptuous, spiced rum, made from some of the Island’s locally grown fruits and botanicals.

With Cowes Week looming, it’s a golden opportunity for Xavier to test out the fruits of his labour at the world-famous regatta.

At Robin Hill Country Park, which is currently under offer having closed last year, staff are preparing for Night Glow – a choreographed display of hot air balloons.

The crowd have gathered, but with winds looking a little too gusty, the chances of launching them are still up in the air.
