TONIGHT'S Isle of Wight Senior (Gold) Cup tie between Cowes Sports and Whitecroft and Barton Sports has been called off due to the pitch being deemed unplayable.
The quarter-final tie was due to be played at Westwood Park in Cowes, but after a vehicle being driven onto the pitch cut up the already soft surface due to recent bad weather, a decision was made this morning (Tuesday) to pull the plug on the game.
The game will be rearranged for a midweek date next month.
The Yachtsmen's home league game against Hamble Club on Saturday is expected to go ahead, barring any further heavy rain, a club official said.
