A car has left the road and ploughed into a field near Calbourne on the Isle of Wight.

The County Press has been told it has happened off Middle Road.

It's understood the vehicle, a silver VW, left the road and went through a hedge near to the junctions with Brook Road and Dodpits Lane.

It's believed it was travelling in the Newport direction at the time.

Police are in attendance on Middle Road.

The road remains open.

Police have confirmed they were called to reports of a crash at 7am this morning (Friday).

“The vehicle involved was a Volkswagen Golf", a spokesperson said.

"There were no injuries.”
