WOOTTON High Street has reopened following a serious crash involving an Isle of Wight ambulance and a pedestrian this afternoon (Tuesday).
The road was closed for a time, from Brannon Way to its junction with the Cedars Pub and Station Road.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were all called to the scene and the car park to Tesco Express was cordoned off.
Emergency service teams were alerted to a crash involving an ambulance and a car.
Police later confirmed a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: "We were called at 1.42pm to a collision on High Street in Wootton.
“This involved an ambulance, a car and a pedestrian.
“The pedestrian suffered a serious, but not life-threatening or life-changing injury.
“The pedestrian is in the care of the ambulance service.”
The incident led to significant traffic delays in the area, and Southern Vectis buses were forced to divert.
The road has now re-opened to traffic.
