The 2024 Hedgelaying Competition, due to take place this month on Saturday, February 24, has been postponed to 2025.
Co-organiser Matthew Chatfield of the Isle of Wight Hedgerow Group said: "We are very sorry to announce that we will not be holding the competition in 2024.
"I appreciate this will be a disappointment to many, and we would like to thank all the competitors and others for their patience this year.
"The good news is that we have secured a site for 2025 already and so I can confirm that the 2025 competition will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Parkdown Barns, Calbourne Road, Newport, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Mike Morris.
"This is the site we visited in 2015 and 2016 which proved to be a very popular location with well-attended events.
"We look forward to welcoming you to the competition next year."
No reason has been given for the postponement.
The Isle of Wight Hedgerow Group exists to encourage the planting of new hedges and the good management of existing ones, and to promote the art of hedgelaying.
