CHILDREN and staff were evacuated from an Isle of Wight primary school after a car caught fire.

Firefighters attended Haylands Primary School in Bettesworth Road in Ryde at 8.29am this morning (Friday).
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service sent out a crew from Ryde after receiving an emergency call from the school at 8.19am.
On attendance, the appliance used one hose reel jet to extinguish the burning car, located in the school car park.
The fire happened during the peak period of drop off for pupils at the school and the premises was evacuated, a fire service spokesperson said.
There were no injuries.
The stop on the incident came in at 8.46am.
