A witness appeal has been launched by police after a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a stranger in an alleyway on the Isle of Wight
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the incident took place on Pan Estate on Monday, January 29.
Police said it was reported that the girl was approached in the Downside Playing Fields by a man she did not know, who offered to walk her home.
At around 8.50pm they walked from the fields before the girl was sexually assaulted.
It was reported to police by a third party at around 8pm the following day.
Police said they have spoken with the girl and scoped for CCTV in the area.
They are now appealing for anyone who witnessed anything to come forward.
The man is described as white, slim, tall, softly spoken, with dark curly hair and wearing black clothing.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We would also urge this man to come forward to speak to police."
