The family of a much-loved Isle of Wight girl who died last year are ensuring her memory lives on by helping other young people with complex needs.

Angie and Matt, the parents of Chelsea Turner, have successfully raised money for new equipment at a primary school and the Island's hospital.

Through fundraiser Chelsea's Wishes, the couple had planned to create a sensory room in their home for their daughter.

However, Chelsea, who had complex medical needs, sadly passed away in July 2023.

Knowing she would have wanted to share her love for lights, bubbles and bright colours with other children, Angie and Matt decided to use the funds to buy a portable sensory station for Barton Primary School.

Angie said the school has a high number of SEND pupils who are on a waiting list to get into specialist schools.

She said she hopes this will help students who are unable to access certain equipment.

The school said: "We would like to say a huge thank you to Angie, Matt, Chelsea and all her family for this thoughtful donation.

"It will continue to support children for many years to come."

Chelsea's family have also raised money for the children's ward at St Mary's Hospital.

Recognising the need for a tracking hoist, they donated funds to help make it possible.

The hospital said: "The hoist, named Hercules, along with Shirley the new shower trolley, is improving care for our young patients and ensuring that Chelsea's memory lives on in a meaningful way."
