AN ISLE of Wight man accused of serious sexual offences involving a child in 2019, appeared before magistrates.
Stephen Owen Maidment, of Beachfield Road, Sandown, faced a series of serious charges:
- Attempting to cause/incite a female child aged under 13 years to engage in sexual activity.
- Making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child, namely 12 Category C images.
- Attempting to cause a child aged under 13 years to watch/look at an image of sexual activity.
- Attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
The offences are alleged to have taken place on the Isle of Wight between November 4 and December 15, 2019.
The 39-year-old was bailed to reappear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on March 11.
