A search and rescue operation remains ongoing after an emergency response to South Wight this afternoon (Tuesday, February 6).
HM Coastguard has been responding to reports of a person possibly in difficulty in the water in the St Catherine's Point area.
Emergency teams were alerted shortly before 12.30pm, with Ventnor and Needles Coastguard Rescue Teams sent to the scene.
Coastguard crews were joined by the RNLI lifeboat from Yarmouth and the coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent.

The search has been stood down.
The person believed to be in difficulty is safe and well.
