Emergency teams rushed to an East Wight beach yesterday (Sunday, February 4) following reports of possible unexploded ordnance.
Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were alerted shortly before 4pm.
The coastguard teams were quickly on the scene at Seagrove Bay in Seaview.
A 100-meter cordon was put in place until the Portsmouth-based Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance disposal team arrived at the beach.
Thankfully, the suspicious item was confirmed as safe, and the area of the beach was reopened to the public shortly after.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team said that, in a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
