Isle of Wight Police have issued a warning to van drivers not to risk being on the roads with insecure loads.
A van was seized yesterday after being spotted carrying a heavy load of metal with no means of securing it.
Police say the driver had no road tax and no MOT on the vehicle either.
Andy of the Roads Policing Unit said: "The heavy metal in this van would become a large projectile if the van was involved in a crash.
"The driver has been issued multiple tickets for all the offences noted.
"They will be able to get their van back once they've spoken to the DVLA and organised a more suitable van to take the heavy load.
"Loads are not allowed to be secured by gravity alone."
