A public meeting will be held later today (Thursday, February 29) to discuss the findings of an independent investigation into the Bonchurch landslide.
Leeson Road, which connects Shanklin with Bonchurch, was closed on December 10, 2023, due to a landslide which has been described as 'one of the largest of its kind on the south coast of England'.
Around 20 properties were evacuated - although most residents were back home within days.
Following the landslide, the Isle of Wight Council commissioned an independent investigation and risk assessment of the area.

In parallel to the council study, Island Roads has also commissioned engineers to assess the feasibility of opening part of, or all of, the road.
A public meeting will be held at St Catherine's Church at 6pm to update residents on the findings of the two studies.
The meeting will also include updates on Ventnor Eastern Esplanade, the Environment Agency’s Ventnor Coastal programme and Island Roads’ progress on the Rene Howe Walk (the Cascade).
