An Isle of Wight e-scooter rider has been summoned to court for driving with no insurance and no licence.
Police said an e-scooter was being used on the wrong side of the road, and on the pavement, at speed.
They said it happened at night and was "an accident waiting to happen".
Sgt Radford said: "The scooter has been seized, the owner will not see it again and will face a court summons for various offences.”
Officers stopped a 25-year-old man, from Shanklin, in St Paul's Crescent at 11.57pm on Friday, January 26.
A court summons was issued and no arrests were made.
Police said the offence will be dealt with under the single justice procedure.
Although the government is looking into legalising private e-scooters, under current UK law it is illegal to use them on public roads or pavements.
They can only be used on private land, with the owners permission.
On the Island, rented Beryl e-scooters can be used on roads but the rider must be have a valid driving licence or provisional licence and be aged 16 or older.
