An Isle of Wight author will release the second book in her Nightingale and Courtney trilogy in Spring 2024.
Ventnor-based author Katie Daysh loves to explore unheard voices in fiction. In her main genre, historical fiction, she enjoys placing LGBT characters at the heart of the narrative.
Her stories are often set on the sea and illuminate themes of friendship, loyalty and mental health issues.
Her debut novel, the LGBT Age of Sail adventure, Leeward, published in 2023, will be followed by two other stories in the trilogy.
Commenting on Leeward, Sunday Times bestselling author Ben Kane said: “One of the best debut novels I have read in many years. A magnificent, compelling read.”
All three books will include lots of Island connections, with books two and three both set on the Island.
The second book in the series, The Devil to Pay, will be released on April 4 and is available to pre-order now.
The novel is described by publishers Canelo as a 'thrilling queer adventure on the high seas', with romance, naval warfare and long-hidden secrets finally coming to light. It is said to be perfect for fans of Kate Mosse, Ken Follett and Diana Gabaldon.
