Part of the Isle of Wight's Military Road has been blocked off and a police helicopter has been circling the skies above the West Wight this afternoon (Saturday).
Updated: Body found in search for missing Totland Bay man
Military Road has been shut at its junctions with Afton Road and Gate Lane, in Freshwater.
At the other end of the road, a closure is in force near Compton Bay Car Park.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary vehicles have been spotted pulled over on the road, near Greystones Lane.
Officers have also been seen on foot and the National Police Air Service helicopter has been scouring the area.
HM Coastguard has confirmed to the County Press its helicopter has also been up and is supporting a search for a missing person over West Wight.
Earlier today police issued an urgent appeal to help find missing Totland Bay man, Ian Fisk.
A police spokesperson said: "We are very concerned for Ian’s welfare and are now asking anyone who has seen him to please contact police."
Ian is described as:
- 6ft
- White
- Of slim build with broad shoulders
- Unshaven
- Light brown hair which is longer top and shorter on the side.
He was last seen wearing a thick, tan coloured padded coat with a hood, fawn coloured Levi trousers and brown boots.
Police believe he is travelling in a blue Mini Cooper, which officers are also keen to locate.
