AN ISLE of Wight man accused of burglary and assault has been remanded in custody, meaning he will see in the new year behind bars.
The case of Charlie Lewis, of Linden Road, Newport, was heard before Southampton magistrates on Tuesday, December 26.
The 29-year-old is charged with burglary, assault by beating and criminal damage in Newport, on December 23.
He is accused of stealing a house key from a dwelling on Manor Crescent, damaging a door and curtain rail, and assaulting a woman.
Mr Lewis saw his case adjourned to January 26 at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
He was remanded in custody until that date.
