January 1, 2024, promises to be packed with fun, including Isle of Wight New Year's Day swims, however a firework display in Sandown has been cancelled.

Tomorrow (Monday, January 1), Shanklin’s Small Hope Beach will host a dip for those willing to brave the January waves. It will start at 12.30pm, outside the Salix Beach Café and will collect donations for Blue Seas Protection.

Meanwhile, the New Year’s Day dip for Breast Cancer Now starts at 11.45am, in Sandown, opposite Pebbles Cafe.

At noon, The Royal Pier Hotel on Pier Street will host a swim in aid of Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat and will serve refreshments afterwards.

Sandown New Year's Day fireworks

Sandown Carnival Association's New Year's Day fireworks were due return with entertainment from 4pm, tomorrow (January 1) and a spectacular display from 6pm.

However, organisers said the event had been called off due to circumstances beyond their control, promising to rearrange for later in the year.

On Tuesday, January 2, a Swim the Wight event will be held at Colwell, at 10am.
