A Thailand-born chef - and former Ryde School pupil - who moved to the Isle of Wight and, as a teenager, learned his trade here, is celebrating winning a Michelin star.
Pongcharn 'Top' Russell runs Mia in Bangkok, with his wife, renowned pastry chef Michelle Goh.
The Michelin Guide describes it as being nestled in a beautiful house and praises its dining experience as lavish.
On offer is a mix of European cuisine with an Asian soul and the Michelin Guide commends its 'mouth-watering combinations under a stylish and unique ambience paired with a marvellous wine list.'
Top lived on island of Phuket before moving to England, at the age of 15.
He attended Ryde School and later worked at the Priory Bay Hotel - where his parents also got married.
In 2006, he started as a waiter and moved to the kitchen, in 2008, going full time when he turned 18 and spending two years at the Island venue.
Top had planned to go to university, but says he fell in love with cooking over his gap year and stayed in his dream job.
Proud Ryde-based aunt, Ellis Russell, told the County Press: "Having eaten at Top's restaurant, Mia, in Bangkok it's clear the Michelin star is well deserved.
"The food is always exceptional and well thought out.
"He and Michelle make a great team and we look forward to a Michelin star Christmas lunch some time in the future."
Ellis and her family got up a 3am, to watch the Michelin-star award ceremony being live-streamed.
Top was named among Forbes 30 under 30 in Asia and appeared in series two of Topchef Thailand and he has worked at the prestigious Gauthier Soho and Sketch in London, Pollen in Singapore, and Freebird in Bangkok.
His wife, Michelle Goh, who is from Borneo, previously worked in Australia and Singapore.
On Instagram, the pair said: "To our incredible team, cherished patrons, and esteemed supporters, we are beyond grateful to announce that Mia Restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star in 2024!
"We extend our deepest gratitude to our talented chefs, diligent staff, and the entire team who consistently strive for excellence in every dish.
"Thank you for being part of our journey and for celebrating this incredible milestone with us."
